This comment is a little bit offtopic, but FFFox is a person or the name of the mod? I saw a manga translated by FFFox in mangadex, and, surprise, it is about a shota in a world with lolis and all of them are half foxes...
That's BlueFireNick's other project, translating and decensoring that doujin.

Yep, one of my other projects. FFFox is sort of like my pseudo circle name of sorts, even if it's just me. Also been working on a more time-sensitive sort of private project, which, not surprisingly, includes more fox and wolf girls.

Playing on steam deck and nothing I do fixes the lag. I have a high speed m.2 installed (with the game on it instead of my sd card), tried capping cpu clock to be as high as it can go, changing rendering backend, and everything else I could. Any suggestions for a fix? I also tried changing my cpu govener but it had zero effect.
if the game works for people on winlator without extreme lag how is it nof working on steam deck?

yeah I tried it on winlator and it also lags there. I feel like this needs to be fixed in the mod itself, this level of lag makes the mod unusable. Expecially when windows users are also running into the lag. Trying the unmodded game on Winlator and it works fine, which I don't even expect out of the game (or the mod since Winlator is one of the most horrific environments a pc game can run in) so what is the mod doing that causes the game to slow to a crawl even in native windows? Surely fixing a major performance issue like this instead of telling people to use a bunch of inconsistent workarounds is worth it?

By the looks of it, it's an I/O problem that's greatly exacerbated by Wine/Proton. I'm not familiar with Steam Deck OS, but can you check if your system have a /tmp folder mounted as tmpfs? If so, you can put the game with the mod there or, if you haven't one, you can mount another tmpfs, as it'll use RAM as "normal" storage wich minimizes this problem with the quirk of having to backup your saves somewhere else before you reboot or poweroff.

Has anyone found any fixes to the framedrops besides the common fixes listed? Doesn't matter what version of the mod I use, I get low frames and it's only with this mod it seems.

I'm downloading the Kagura version of the game from the original F95 post for this game and replacing the data with the Kagura specific folder's data.

this is not simple on steam deck and is a rediculous workaround, the issue should be fixed in the mod itself.

My phone, Redmi Note 14 4G still have the low fps issue. With FFFox Mod installed (latest version), 10-15 fps average.

With Winlator glibc Ajay, version 7.1.5.

All the possible settings that are here (the majority) seem to have no effect as far as improving FPS is concerned.

I want to know, if possible with another version, try to improve these FPS without having to roll back the mod version.

Another fact that should be noted, it is impossible for me to use 3D Mode instead of Software Mode, when using the first mode the game simply does not open regardless of the version or if the mod is installed or not.

I also tried with custom settings to test the fps increase and nothing changed, on the other hand I only have this problem with the fffoxmod, it works perfectly at more than 50fps without the mod even with the color mod, dlc and base game to the latest version.

is there a way I could decompile the mod so I can attempt to fix the issue myself? I've never modded wolfrpg games before, but would like to fix this issue since thats a better solution then working around it.

3D works for me on my oneplus 12R with the turnip graphics drivers and dxvk while on the coffin colors fork. I don't think your phone has a snapdragon gpu, which means you'll need to switch to the other graphics driver and run the game in dx9.

Mediatek Helio G99 Ultra (6 nm) with Mali-G57 MC2 GPU.

Indeed, isn't Snapdragon. I missed the part that Directx exist, I'll try dx9 but might it will not help at all

Now with that config (and 3D Mode) gets a rare error with fonts and doesn't allow me to play. Also, still with software mode, dx9 and wine3d3 still getting the same fps.

Nothing changes. There's another version of the mod without infinity lag?
Version 1.5.0

this is not simple on steam deck and is a rediculous workaround, the issue should be fixed in the mod itself.
The lags are from loading text files to allow for multi-lingual support, and if it can be believed, the lag is much better than when it started off. However, many mobile users still experience lag, and there isn't much that can be done further, as undoing the multi-lingual support would involves editing 10k+ lines in the engine. However, version 1.5.0 is the last version before the multi-lingual support, and should still run fine if you're still willing to give my mod a chance.

I'm not dismissing your work, on the contrary, I praise you for the work you've done. I've already tried version 1.5.0 and 40FPS round especially; Very good for being old.

So basically the only solution if I wish to play on the only devices I can (My steam deck or my phone) is to downpatch all because of horrific optimization. Optimization which is so bad that the game can't even handle being played off of a high speed M.2 drive (a drive fast enough that modern triple AAA games known for their god awful optimization load fine off of). Absolutely dreadful handling of what is a game breaking bug. If you won't fix it at least make the source code to your mod available so others can instead of telling players to just downpatch for an issue that never should've been an issue in the first place, or at the very least swiftly patched. Multi-lingual support is useless if it cucks people from playing the game.

Biggest question, if its loading text files causing the lag why doesn't it ever subside? Mid load lag is fine and even understandable, but with a ssd capable of 3gbs a second read times its expected for this lag to at the very least subside within a couple minutes. How quick of an ssd does it even need to load these text files, because my ssd is fast enough to read the entire game into ram in a couple seconds. This is a catosrophic failure of optimization.
